Donations!

On August 11-12 I donated 50 hats, 40 headbands, and 60 flowers/accessories to Second Chance with Saving Grace.  I have been working closely with Second Chance with Saving Grace to provide them with hats to put in their love kits that they give to cancer patients and other hurting people in need. The creator and director of Second Chance with Saving Grace is Dr. Diane Dike who has cryoglobulinemia a rare incurable blood disease. To learn more about Second Chance with Saving Grace go to secondchancewithsavinggrace.org her story is incredible.  Below are a few pictures from that donation.

I also donated two hats to two young children going through radiation therapy for brain cancer ages 7 and 2. Unfortunately I cannot post any pictures from that experience on here, but it was very rewarding and the children loved their hats.

I have about 30 more hats that will be going to a near by hospital I am just waiting for the OK.  I will post an update and hopefully more pictures once that donation is complete.  Thank you all for you continue support and if anyone has a special request for a person or an organization to receive some of my hats please let me know.

More headband types

I have learned more headband styles to add to my selection.  All of these headbands come with either a flower or some sort of extra accessory. All my extra accessories are interchangeable or removable so you can wear it alone in your hair if you want.  I currently only have pictures of flowers, but I can also crochet bows, butterflies, crosses, and other kinds of flowers.  If you have an idea or suggestion of something you want me to crochet to clip onto your hat or headband please e-mail me your suggestion.  Here are some pictures of the headbands I have.

These are 3 strand headbands. In the back they have buttons for a custom fit on your head.  They are $5

This a sample of a wide headband.  It can be worn with or without a flower or accessory.  It also connects in the back with buttons to ensure the best possible fit. It can be completely customizable by changing the color and the width.
It is $10

About Hats for Hope

I created Hats for Hope as a way for me to be able to give back and maybe help someone’s life be a little brighter.  I was inspired to give to others after meeting Dr. Diane Dike who is willing to risk her life just to tell people that they are loved.  I first learned to crochet hats when I wanted to do something for someone who already did so much.  I then wanted to expand and make hats that I could donate to people who may need one, especially to people who are fighting cancer. I soon learned that I could not afford to only make hats to donate, which is when I decided to start selling my hats in order to continue donating.  I know that God gave me this gift and ability to make hats and I am going to continue to use it to give back to Him by giving back to others.  For every hat I sell I make another one to donate. Most of my hats are donated to hospitals and cancer centers to give to patients who have cancer.  I also donate my hats to someone who may not be able to afford a hat or be able to afford a gift for a loved one.  I am hoping one day to expand my efforts to be able to help more people and to be able to send something to our troops fighting for our freedom over seas.
All of my hats are 100% hand made including the embroidery. I do sell some pre-made hats at craft fairs, but my main focus is custom making a hat to someone’s specifications. I am working on posting my order form and a downloadable version of my catalogue so that anyone can share my hats with anyone else. If you are interested in ordering a hat from me please e-mail me at melissashatsforhope@gmail.com.  Thank you for taking the time to look at my blog.  God Bless you.
